Adrian's great grandparents

Fun fact: Adrian's great grandparents Gerald and Sara Murphy (also see The New Yorker and Wikipedia) were a pretty big deal back in the 1920s. Gerald Murphy is still known to this day for his art, which is featured all over the world including currently at the MOMA in NYC. Socialites of their time, they were friends with Picasso, Hemingway and Fitzgerald; to name but a few. Picasso, so fond of Sara, painted her in his work.

Some of Gerald Murphy's art:

Watch, 1925

Doves, 1925

Wasp and Pear, 1929

The stylish couple themselves:
Cap d'Antibes, 1923

Their East Hampton home:
Though this house has now since been burned down, the smaller house you see in the background to the right which served as the servant quarters still stands. The smaller house more formally serves as Adrian's home, where his mother Laura Donelly (recently mentioned in the August issue of Vanity Fair for her delightful talents as chef) still resides. Not distinguishable in this photo, this property is on an ocean front.

A painting of Sara by Picasso:
Femme assise en bleu et rose, 1923

wknd getaway

working at the ymca has brought many good things, and mostly people; to my life. John and his sister Jenny were ever so kind to have us come stay up at their cottage. all of those there had one thing in common: we have all worked or are still working at the y. I could never express how grateful I am to know such incredible people, and spend such beautiful summers.

first it must be said we were the best car to drive up. Staci, Chris, Brody (though you cannot see him here, he is sitting on Staci's lap), and myself played some pretty radical car games and listened to all the coolest (not limited to latest) tunes.

'lots of great food!

the cutest ladies!

(oh, there is Brody, also cute

... or as Ryan would say "perrrrfect")

reverse-jenga drinking game

everything about this was the best.

Adrian's first birthday in Canada

this summer is the first time Adrian stays back here in Mtl instead of going home to the states. since his birthday is in august, this also meant him spending it here for the first time; away from his family and friends. I planned a small surprise american-themed get-together for him, and it turned out quite alright.

Dan beat super mario 1 in pretty much 30min.

Sean, thanks for putting up streamers and running to pick-up our food!

hi Staci! you are the best for helping with basically everything!

ten million thanks to Adrian Zgeb

OSHEAGA

I went to Osheaga, and it was the best.

Ev painted some garbage cans, scoring all of the following for free: passes, foods, brews, golf-cart rides and more.

yes, Snoop was there; nbd.

even babies were rocking out.

Weezer played the best set imaginable. the energy they kept up throughout was unreal.

only downside, our black shoes have now turned to grey.
