this little guy is Carlton. he was living temporarily at Adrian's place. I sorta adopted him as my own during this time. we played and cuddled, and he followed me around everywhere. I fell in love. but then he had to go. and now I want a pug. I've been perusing kijiji, but really I am just torturing myself. with my school and work schedule, I am not home enough to keep care of an animal, especially not a dog. I am not down with the pee-mat training thing, I feel like dogs should be walked at a minimum three times per day to do their business outdoors. I could easily do the two/day walk, but three would be impossible on days when I am gone 9-5. uhg. whyyyyy. so unfair. I want one. solutions?

Have one, and take them everywhere with you. That's what I did with my baby!
I would recommend adopting an adult pug from one of Montreal's many rescues. Puppies are cute, but come with a tremendous amount of responsibility. Plus, full grown dogs aren't usually first pick so you'd really be giving one a second chance at a great life. People don't think they'll find a specific breed through a rescue, but you'd be surprised by how many purebred or adorable mixed-breeds there are out there who don't have homes. The bonus of adopting a full grown dog is often that they're already house trained and don't have crazy amounts of puppy-energy.
I work 9-5 and take my dog out twice a day and it works out fine. He's only 2 so he's not a senior but he doesn't destroy my house and was housebroken when I got him!

p.s. these rescues may not always have what you want right away, but if you're patient, you can always find the perfect dog for you
wow thanks for all the links! I thought the spca was the only place you could go... but I also had not really looked into it. super good idea. it's my last semester of school, so I'm going to start looking into this dog thing more seriously in January most likely. I'm still scared of all the responsibility that comes along with having a dog... not to mention food/vet bills. we'll see!
Thanks :)
